Vellore: 4 more government hospitals picked for NQAS licence
VELLORE, July 10, 2019 : With already 3 government hospitals in Vellore district having undergone the exam for National Quality Assurance Standard (NQAS) certification by the central committee team and awaiting results, Vellore district health service department has shortlisted four more government hospitals in Walaja, Gudiyatham, Vaniyambadi and Arakkonam for the certification. The recommendation was sent to the central committee to award the quality assurance standard certification .
“If the central committee takes our recommendation into consideration and comes forward and awards the certification, all these certified received hospitals would undergo a face lift with better facilities and high class treatment on par with private hospitals,” said I Yasmin, Joint Director of Health service, Vellore .
Suresh, deputy director of health service, Vellore said, “A central team from Delhi assessed the facilities available. They also verified the records, took note of the care and service given to the patients, maintenance of hospital and also inspected other available facilities at Ambur, Tirupattur and Sholingur last month. They were satisfied and we are confident that all the three hospitals would be awarded the NQAS certificate,” he said.
According to him the quality assurance certificate is provided for government hospitals by the Union ministry of health and family welfare under the National quality assurance programme .
A government hospital which bags the certificate is eligible to receive a financial assistance of Rs 10,000 rs per bed per year for the next five years.
“If a hospital caters to 100 beds, it would receive a total assistance of Rs 50 lakh rupees under the scheme . Using the fund we could develop the entire infrastructure and improvise the health care services.” added Suresh. ET Health
