Pvt Hosp fined for denial of standards
Thiruvananthapuram, March 1, 2022:
The district medical officer (DMO) has imposed a fine at a private hospital for embezzling medical expenses of Rs 1.42 lakh from a patient who had been removed from a Covid cell.
The DMO told the state human rights commission (SHRC) that the hospital was hit with a penalty, which is 10 times the medical cost collected from the patient. According to the report filed by the DMO, the hospital was given 15 days to fulfill the referral. According to the rules, patients sent from the district collection by empaneled hospitals would not be taxed. However, the hospital paid Rs 1.42 lakh for the six days of treatment. ET Health
