Generic Hepcvir-L launched in India

Generic tablets of Ledipasvir-Sofosbuvir (Hepcvir-L) for treatment of genotype 1 hepatitis C has been in launched in India by Cipla. Hepcvir-L is a generic version of Harvoni tablets that is being marketed by Gilead Sciences. A bottle of 28 tablets of Hepcvir-L will cost about Rs. 25,000.
 
According to Cipla, the burden of hepatitis C infection is roughly about 185 million including 12-18 million Indian patients.
 
Hepcvir-L is the first fixed dose, once-daily, oral combination for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C genotype-1 infection.
