Drug wing of Health Department seizes medicines

Amritsar, April 2017:

In the seizures made by the drug wing of the Health Department in the past 24 hours, it has seized medicines worth around Rs 2 lakh in two separate instances where shopkeepers failed to produce records pertaining to the stock.

 

In the first seizure last evening, the department seized 27,200 tablets of Anipra containing Etiozolam worth Rs 1,45,000 allegedly of Pacific Pharmaceuticals, Katra Sher Singh market.

 

Drug inspector Sukhdeep Singh said the persons available on the premises failed to show any records about the stock of the medicines. He said a qualified person required as per the norms was also absent from the place. He said the medicine seized is used for anxiety, sleep disorder and other such problems and it is also widely misused by drug addicts.

 

In the second seizure made by drug inspector Bableen Kaur, the department seized 18 different types of drugs from Sai Medicos outside Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, Majitha Road. The drug inspector stated that the purchase record of these drugs was not shown on demand to the inspecting team.
