2 Held In Manipur Drug Haul Case

IMPHAL, 25 SEPT 2019:

Police have arrested two persons from Tripura in connection with the seizure of 40 lakh World is Yours (WY) tablets worth Rs 400 crore from Thoubal district of Manipur last month.

The arrested duo, Jhutan Malakar (29) of Kamalpur village in Anandpur and Tanmoy Pal (22) of Dhupirbong Krishnapur in North Tripura, were brought to Imphal and produced before a narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances court on Monday. They have been sent to police custody till October 3, Thoubal SP S Ibomcha Singh told TOI.

A team of special investigation team led by Thoubal additional SP Th Deshorjit Singh and three sub-inspectors flew to Agartala on September 18, the SP said. On September 19, the police team, with the assistance of Tripura Police, arrested the duo in Tripura and seized an SUV, Ibomcha added. After obtaining a transit remand for four days from a special judge in south Tripura, the two accused were brought back to Imphal, he added. The Times Of India
