Sale of spurious medicines AMADA expresses concern

Imphal, February 09, 2011: All Manipur Anti-Drug Association (AMADA) has expressed surprise in not taking up any step by the State Government to punish the culprits of circulating spurious medicines in the State.

Taking serious note of selling spurious medicines in the State, AMADA also urged the State medical practitioners not to prescribe medicines which are marketed by the Medical Representatives (MR) who do not fulfil the criteria of being in the profession.

AMADA in a press release said that the association is concerned with the selling and giving prescription of Glace-L syrup, Glace-AD capsule, Tx-Original injection and Folcare suspension, which have been recently unveiled as spurious medicines by Manipur Chemists and Druggist Association.

AMADA added, it has come to light during a course investigation conducted by the association that these spurious items were manufactured by one Sagolsem Surjit of Jiribam Kalinagar and tampered the price tag as well.

It added that Lamphel Pharmacy, Lamphel, Ribolta Pharmacy, Nagamapal Bora Gali and Bheigyabati Pharmacy, Nagamapal RIMS Road were the stockists of these spurious items.
