Hospital Told To Pay Rs 8 Lakh To Yoga Instructor For Negligence
Hyderabad, 22 July 2019:
A yoga instructor, who suffered severe health complications due to doctor’s negligence, was awarded a compensation of Rs 8 lakh by Telangana Consumer Disputes and Redressal Centre.
On Sunday, commissioner for civil supplies, Akun Sabharwal, handed over the cheque to Devaiah, 31, and added that the case was solved in less than a month. Devaiah, of Kothapelli village in Rajanna Siriclla district, approached Piles Clinic, Secunderabad, on February 24, 2018, and was suggested to undergo an operation. He paid Rs 25,000 for surgery and was discharged after three hours. But soon he had to be hospitalised again with severe bleeding and was referred to another hospital.
Realising that treatment would be expensive, his family approached KT Rama Rao for help and Rs 5.5 lakh was sanctioned from CM Relief Fund. However, treatment took more time than expected and he had to pay Rs 18 lakh, by selling his land. He approached the forum on June 29, 2019. Subsequently, the redressal centre issued a notice to the hospital and made them pay for their mistake.
