Another feather in our hat - MAA Anandamayi Medicine Bank inaugurated
The novel pilot project, ‘MAA's MEDICINE BANK’, initiated by the Patient Safety and Access Initiative Foundation of India at Maa Anandamayi Hospital, Shivalaya, Varanasi on 14th July 2016 is another leading step in the Universal Health Coverage Project after the successful launch of the JAN AUSHADHI Store on 1st January 2016 to provide better medical facilities to the every citizen, especially the poor who need it most.
Ravindra Jaiswal, MLA, Varanasi has inaugurated MAA's Medicine Bank. MR. Jaiswal said, “The patients will get cheap and efficient medical facilities with the initiation of this medicine bank.” The medicine bank will provide branded medicine at the discounted price of upto10-25 percent.
At the event, Bejon Misra said, “due to expensive medical services in our nation, about 60-70 percent people need to sell their lands or have taken loans to avail such medical facilities.” While Tushar Kumar, CEO, Medlife said, “This is a new project and will be expanded to several districts in future. At present this medicine bank provides over 3000 medical products, however, it will dispense around 25000 medical products in the coming days at cheap rate.”
The initiative also offers Health Cards at Rs. 50. This health card has several health benefits such as free transportation, diagnostics and hospitalization. On the inaugural occasion, Bejon Mishra, founder, Patient Safety and Access Initiative of India, Swami Deveshananda, Chairman, Core Group, Maa Anandamayi Hospital, and Tushar Kumar, CEO, Medlife and several other dignitaries were present.
