NOIDA, DECEMBER 2016
Doctors at the Super Speciality Child Hospital and Post Graduate Institute, Noida, UP, came as life savers for three-year-old Ram Avtar as they removed a 650 gram tumour from his liver, that to without too much bleeding.
Ram Avtar’s parents are now relieved and happy. Their poor financial condition and lack of knowledge meant that they had no idea what disease their son was suffering from.
The operation team of paediatrics comprising Dr Pramod Sharma, Dr Neel Agarwal and Dr S Mukherjee took almost two hours to perform the successful operation. Ram Avtar has now been discharged and is able to walk and play.
The size of the tumor was 650 gram having 15 cm height and 8 cm width. The entire procedure of treatment and operation cost only Rs 8,000, to the relief and happiness of Ram Avtar's parents.
Earlier, Ram Avtar’s parents were worried and tense about his treatment. Inder Sain, Ram Avtar’s father, who hails from Ghazipur, UP, was told by a private practitioner that the size of his son’s liver had increased and it is urgent to operate him. The doctors told him that the entire treatment would cost Rupees one lakh. This had caused panic and unease to Inder Sain.
On the advice of some of his relatives, Inder Sain took his son to PGI, Noida. After getting some essential tests and investigations done, such CT scan, the date of December 15, 2016, was given for his operation. Now, the operation is successful and his son has been discharged.
According to doctors, had the tumor not been removed in time, it would have burst and it could have taken the child’s life.
AK Pandey, PRO, PGI, Nodia, said that this is a huge achievement for the hospital as it will help patients from remote areas of UP and Bihar to come here for such life threatening diseases instead of wasting their precious time. He said the private hospitals could have charged more than Rupees one lakh for the same surgery.
“After hearing about this big development, three more children suffering from tumors in different parts of the body have visited the hospital and are getting the treatment,” said Mr Pandey. Drugtodayonline
