Saffron based crocin to combat liver cancer

A recent study published in the Recent Patents on Anticancer Drug Discovery has suggested that saffron-based crocin can prevent early malignant lesions in the liver. The results were based on computational analyses, in vivo and in vitro studies.

The study was conducted by Prof. Amr Amin, an UAE-based University academician.

The present study employed murine model, computer-assisted models and gene profiling studies to confirm the study findings. According to the study, NF-kB (Nuclear Factor – Kappa B) serves a regulatory hub and as a potential therapeutic drug for saffron-based crocin.
