WHA69: Empowering People in the Fight against Fake Medicines
Fight the Fakes , which partners the International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF) and the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations (IFPMA), hosted on 27 May 2016 an event at the 69th annual World Health Assembly (WHA69).The event was made up of a panel discussion with speakers from IPSF, the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), and the Tanzanian Food and Drugs Authority, and moderated by Catherine Fiankan Bokonga.
Interventions were made from the floor from Fight the Fakes partner the University College London School of Pharmacy, the Ministries of Health of Nigeria and Senegal, and the World Health Organization secretariat. New campaign to protect seniors from online illegal pharmacies has been flagshiped by Alliance for Safe Online Pharmacies (ASOP) at the event . The Alliance for Safe Online Pharmacies (ASOP Global), Center for Safe Internet Pharmacies (CSIP) and National Consumers League (NCL) are joining forces to educate seniors and their caregivers about the health and financial risks associated with buying prescription medicines from illegal or rogue online pharmacies, and to provide them with the tools
