Gujarat: I-T Dept Searches Dishman Pharma Premises In City

The Income-Tax Department conducted a day-long 'search and survey operation' at multiple premises of pharma major Dishman Carbogen Amcis Ltd in the city on Thursday. Officials searched 12 offices and eight residences of top bosses of the group, commonly known as Dishman Group. The operations went on till late into the night and is expected to continue on Friday.

The drugs manufacturer was subjected to searches on suspicion that money coming into the company was allegedly being routed abroad to its subsidiaries and bogus entries were being made in cash.

The group is headed by Janmejay Vyas who is the CMD. His wife Deohooti is a full-time director. His son Arpit is MD and Chief Financial Officer and is currently believed to be in Switzerland, where Dishman has the largest number of manufacturing units (4) and subsidiary companies (4). Vyas's daughter Aditi is also under investigation although her role in the company currently stands undefined, said IT officials. Ahmedabad Mirror
