Uttarakhand Government Planning Medical Device Park In Dehradun
DEHRADUN, 8 JUNE 2019: With the aim to set up North India’s first medical device manufacturing and testing park, the Uttarakhand government is working on a proposal to set up such a unit in the state capital. The park, which will be set up on a land of over 500 bigha, will have a manufacturing unit of over 1,000 medical devices.
For the initial phase, the state authorities have contacted Kalam Institute of Health Technology (KIHT) and both sides have agreed upon signing an MoU for technical support.
An official said, “The project is still in an early stage and a proposal will soon be forwarded to the state government. If successfully implemented, this will prove to be an important achievement for the state as major medical device manufacturers of the country will not only set up their plants here but will also get testing done here.”
He added that if testing was done in Dehradun, it will bring down the cost of expensive machines used in medical examinations.
While sources claimed that land has been identified in Charba area of Dehradun, officials maintained that a final decision in this regard is yet to be taken.ET Healthworld
