Quack, nurses arrested for running hospital in Alwar

Alwar, March 2017:

A quack running a full-fledge hospital was raided by the police and arrested him along with nine nursing and other healthcare staff in Alwar on Saturday.

 

In another raid, the health department officials arrested three more persons for running a clinic allegedly without any licence and Medical Council of India (MCI) registration.

 

Chief medical health officer (Alwar) Dr Pankaj Gupta has launched a drive against fake doctors (quacks), who do not have any registration with MCI and also they do not have any "legitimate" degree, which allows them for practicing medicine (allopathy).

 

But, the health department officials were shocked to see that one quack Mukesh Bajaj has a full-fledge hospital allegedly without any degree in medicine (allopathy) along with a medical store.

 

Dr Gupta said that in the hospital, there had been facilities for admission of patients along with staff of nine persons including nurses. When quack Bajaj got the information of health department's team reached his hospital, he tried to flee from the spot. However, the police arrested 09 nursing staff and other employees in the hospital along with the doctor. The hospital of quack is situated near Agarsen crossroad.

 

In second raid, health department team arrested three persons from a Badaya clinic at NBE area on 60-feet road on Saturday. The officials said that they have arrested three persons for illegally running a clinic. During the raid, police officials of NBE police station along with station house officer remained present.

 

The health department officials with the help of the police seized the hospital and clinic. Dr Gupta said that the quacks were befooling innocent patients by allegedly providing them allopathic treatment without any degree in medicine. Such quacks are also flouting MCI norms. In badaya clinic, a pharmacist was doing the job of a doctor. The clinic was registered on the name of a doctor Abhishek Kumar. The health department has also registered a case under drug and cosmetic act.
