Noida: Clinic Being Run By Quack Was Running For 2.5 Yrs Without License

NOIDA, 7 OCT 2020:

The owner of the clinic, who fled the spot after leaving the dead bodies of a mother-child duo on a charpoy outside her clinic, was running the clinic in the area for the past two and half years without any license and any board outside the clinic.

Locals say the accused woman is one of the local quacks who does not have any qualification of a doctor is in fact, merely a compounder who worked with a private hospital.

As the health department on Tuesday sealed the clinic, locals say the woman had been operating in the area for the past two and half years.

Kamlesh, the husband of the deceased woman Ruchi told TOI that when the woman had in fact given a guarantee that the delivery would be done without any hassle.

“The woman had guaranteed a smooth delivery to us. She had asked for Rs. 17000 to be paid but we requested her to bring it down to Rs. 15000. When my wife and the child expired and I was on phone, she and her brother closed the clinic and fled the spot, leaving their bodies on the charpoy,” he said.

Locals say that the woman was among the many local quacks in the area.

Manoj Tyagi, a villager from the area told TOI that in the past too, the many such incidents of negligence have happened.

A four-year-old girl allegedly died after she was allegedly administered a wrong injection by a quack at the Bengali clinic in the same lane some days back.

“She had fever and was administered an injection by the quack. The incident created panic and led to the clinic shutting down for three days but it is running again,” he said.

Phase III SHO Jitendra Dikhit told TOI that prima facie, they have got to know that the woman does not have a valid license to run the clinic but they are awaiting a written response from the CMO office which has sealed the clinic.

CMO Dr Deepak Ohri however confirmed to TOI that the clinic was running illegally and did not have any license.

The SHO said the woman is a native of Bulandshahr and teams have been sent to trace her.

Despite as many as four deaths at clinic run by quacks, locals allege clinics without license are running in Mamura right under the nose of the health department.

The incident has happened in the same lane number 7 of Mamura area where three years back, a three-old girl Aakrati had died when a quack of the Bengali clinic gave her wrong treatment.

Mukesh Pandey, the father of the girl told TOI that the girl died in the winters of 2017 after the quack at the Bengali clinic near his rented accommodation allegedly administered wrong treatment upon her.

“An FIR was lodged in the case under IPC section 304 a(death due to negligence). However, a year later, an investigating officer from Phase III police station arrived at my house and asked me to resolve the matter. I had to sign a paper and no arrests were made,” he said. The Times Of India
