Infertility in women and IVF
It’s always a pleasure when we welcome a new member to the family who starts a new chapter in the life of a couple as they are going to enjoy parenthood. However, today, the number of couples who are unable to conceive due to several reasons is on the increase.
The inability to conceive may have many reasons but in general the state is termed as infertility. In men, it may be due to absent or low sperm count or certain diseases while in women it may include birth detect or problems with ovulation or cervix, damage to fallopian tubes or uterus or certain medical illness. Some other common reasons are poor diet, stress, age, and lifestyle.
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)
Among couples, infertility is considered as a major issue, today there are many assistive reproductive technologies that help them combat this major problem. In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is one of the most popular method. During In Vitro Fertilization implantation, eggs are taken out of the female body and then the egg is fertilized with the sperm. The resultant egg is then transferred to the uterus and the cycle of pregnancy starts.
Though IVF has been successful, still there are many tales related to this procedure. Some of these are discussed below:
