Digital transformation in diagnostic sector has emerged as a key component of the healthcare industry and has enabled in providing access to quality healthcare services, robust diagnostics, and testing. Dr Kahol added that technology has helped in expanding the diagnostic capacity without burdening the healthcare workforce that was already overwhelmed due to the surge in coronavirus infection and stepped in as a saving grace during this time and helped in making diagnostic processes smooth, efficient, and economic.
"Covid-19 surged the demand for at-home diagnostics at the global level. The major chunk was undoubtedly for the coronavirus testing. But at-home diagnostics services in the present times are also being used extensively for routine tests. Nowadays, people are extremely becoming cautious of their health and well-being. Digitization has pushed the need for the introduction of innovations in the diagnostics sector to enhance its efficiency as well as its productivity," stated Dr. Kahol.
Owing to the convenience of at-home testing, home diagnostics will modify perspective of medical tests and health check-ups, be it routine testing of conditions such as thyroid and diabetes or regular health monitoring for chronic ailments. It will also drive the acceptance of preventive healthcare as people will become all the more cautious and aware of their health.

Recent reports by the IBEF and the ministry of external affairs also point out that the Indian healthcare industry is anticipated to be valued at $372 billion by 2022 and the diagnostic market alone is expected to grow to $32 billion by the end of 2022. The increase in healthcare spending by the aging population, rise in income levels, along with the introduction of high-end diagnostics offerings are pushing the growth of the market.
