10,000 Strips Of Nitrosun-10 Seized From A Medical Store, Owner Held

Acting on a tip off from a drug-peddler, a team of drug inspectors and police recovered huge quantity of narcotic drugs from a medical store on Dimna Road under Ulidih police station area in Mango on Monday.
Soon after the recovery of the stock of drugs, the police arrested the owner of the medical store and the team of drug inspectors sealed the medical store.
OC, Ulidih police station, Meghnad Mandal said a youth, Mohammed Afzal had been nabbed with a consignment of various narcotic drugs at Sitaramdera bus terminus on Sunday evening.
Mandal said following interrogation of Afzal who used to bring the drugs, the police came to know that the drugs like Nitrosun-10, which is assigned to be sold on the prescription of a doctor only is being sold secretly to the drug-addicts.
"While interrogating Afzal, the superintendent of police (City) Subhash Chandra Jat instructed the police and the drug inspection office to carry out a joint raid at the medical stores where such restricted drugs are being sold freely. We raided one of the medical stores, Dasmesh Medical in Ulidih and recovered a huge stock of Nitrosun-10, " said Mandal.
The OC said the medical shop owner, Ankit Kumar, was arrested as he could not produce papers against the stock of the seized drugs.
Drug inspector, Jaya Kumari, who was accompanied with other drug inspectors said they seized 10,000 strips of Nitrosun-10 from Dasmes Medical store. The drug inspector said Nitrosun-10 is a highly-intoxicating drug and promotes criminal activity.
Youths are falling prey to consumption of narcotic drugs, which is rampant in the steel city these days. Anti-narcotic officials have noticed a recent surge in the number of youngsters visiting hot-beds of party drugs.
Officials attribute the boom in the drug culture to the pumping in of money from the Gulf countries as well as to the boom in the realty sector. A police officer spoke of a multi-pronged strategy, targeting both the demand and supply sides of the drug traffic.
This would involve cultivating sources among the student community and tracing the drug trafficking networks, located mostly in the State. “There has been a drastic change in the pattern of consumption from natural psychotropic substances to chemical compounds as is evident from recent cases,” he noted.The Pioneer
