Jaipur, 2 July: After a long wait of 30 years the drug testing lab at Jaipur has now acquired the facility of conducting microbiological investigations also. Till now drugs samples were being sent to Central Drug Laboratory in Kolkata for testing but since the past six months the CDL had started refusing outside samples for testing.

DoP once again to take up barcoding issue with commerce ministry

With mounting pressure from the small and medium pharma industries to stall the introduction of barcoding for exports, which is to become mandatory in phased manner from October 1 this year, the Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP) will once again take up the issue with the union commerce ministry to sort out the issues arising out of the mandatory implementation of barcoding.

NEW DELHI, 5 July: The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has revised prices of 100 formulation packs and three bulk drugs, namely cefadroxyl monohydrate, metronidazole and metronidazole benzoate. The agency has also removed methylprednisolone from the list of Scheduled drugs.

Health Canada, the Canadian health regulatory agency, has discovered fake drugsin the Toronto area that contains ingredients not found in the legitmate medication. The seized medication is fake erectile dysfunction medication mimicking Cialis in shape, form, and similar packaging, but actually contains sildenafil, a prescription medication not found in authentic Cialis that can be very dangerous to people with heart conditions and requires careful medical supervision for use.

Anti-Counterfeiting Medicine Lab Opens In Southern Africa

 

Zambian government officials have allocated K2 billion to building a National Drug Quality Control Laboratory in Lusaka, announced the Ministry of Health. Under the authority of the Pharmaceutical Regulatory Authority, the goal of the laboratory is to curb the spread of counterfeit medicine within Zambia, reports the Zambia Daily Mail. .
