Govt Should Notify E-Pharmacy Rules
Mumbai, 15 Oct 2020: The Government should finalise and notify e-pharmacy rules immediately as the regulatory uncertainty dampens growth and new investment in the sector, according to the experts. Panellists on the discussion also said there remains ambiguity on the legality of marketplaces. They were participating in a discussion on ‘e-Pharmacy: Digitally Empowering Consumers and Small Businesses’ organised by the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI).

IPC To Amend Blood Thinner Heparin Sodium Monograph In IP 2018 Mumbai, 22 Oct 2020: The Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) will soon amend the heparin sodium monograph in IP 2018 following an appeal from stakeholders. The decision to this effect was taken by the IPC at a meeting held on September 23, 2020.
Imports From China Is Up Despite Border TensionsNew delhi, 19 Oct 2020: India's trade with China has gone up during the pandemic and the lockdown despite tensions at the borders. In 64% PPE Kit Cases, Manufacturers Are Not Complying For Testing Quality: IPC StudyMumbai, 23 Oct 2020: The Ghaziabad-based Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) which is the National Coordination Centre (NCC) for Materiovigilance Programme of India (MvPI) has revealed in its latest study that in 64% cases, manufacturers are not complying with the government guidelines and personal protective equipment (PPEs) are being sold and distributed in the market without proper testing and non-compliance to quality. IPC has been keenly working on the development of resource material and reporting tools as the NCC for MvPI which was launched in 2015.

People Make A Beeline For Fake Covid Medicine, DC Intervenes KOZHIKODE, 20 OCT 2020: Thanks to an ENT physician’s ‘discovery’ of nasal drops which can ‘resist Covid’ and a prominent vernacular daily reporting it, a medical store in Koyilandy here is making a quick buck. E Sukumaran, a Koyilandy-based senior ENT surgeon and former deputy director of health department, has claimed that nasal drops — the ‘medication’ has a 25 per cent glucose content — can eliminate the coronavirus from the throat itself.
Over 52-Kg Of Propiophenone Used For Ephedrine SeizedMumbai, 20 Oct 2020: The zonal unit of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) raided a warehouse at Dhumaal Nagar, Sagar Industrial Estate in Palghar on Sunday evening and seized 353 grams of Ephedrine. One canister of 52.875 kg liquid chemical purported to be Propiophenone, a raw material used for synthesis of Ephedrine, was also seized from the location.

Got Covid Despite Taking Best Ayurvedic Immunity Boosters: Ayush Minister Calangute, 18 Oct 2020: Union Ayush minister Shripad Naik said on Saturday that he couldn’t escape Covid-19 despite taking ayurvedic immunity-boosters. “Despite taking the best of ayurvedic medicines and boosting my immunity, I was still infected by the disease, as I came in contact with a large number of people to help them during the lockdown,” Naik, who recently recovered from Covid, said. “People need to continue taking the utmost care — wear masks and maintain social distance to minimise the chances of getting infected.”
