Health ministry reconstitutes Central Council of Health and Family Welfare to recommend policy matters
New Delhi, April 26, 2022: The Union health ministry has reconstituted the Central Council of Health and Family Welfare, the apex advisory body set up by the ministry to consider and recommend broad lines of policy on matters concerning health and family welfare in the country. The ministry also defined the nature of duties performed by the Council and the procedures, through a notification.

NPPA fixes retail price of 302 new drugs in fiscal year 2021-22 New Delhi, April 25, 2022: The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has issued notifications fixing the retail price of a total of 302 new drugs and revising the ceiling prices of a total of 898 drugs based on the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) revision during the fiscal year 2021-22.

The DoP is currently in discussion with the pharmaceutical industry for finalising a draft of the roadmap for pharma and medical device sector for the year 2047. The DoP is also proposing to establish 50 medical devices clusters or parks and zero discharge in all pharma clusters, among others.

Mumbai, April 29, 2022: Indian hospitals work on rapid adoption of digital systems to reduce risk of medico-legal complaints. Handwritten, paper-based forms are reported to have error rates as high as 50%, impacting clinic and operating room efficiency, plus potentially resulting in litigation. At least 65% of filed cases are due to improper or incomplete consent. Recently, National Consumer Disputes Reddressal Commission (NCDRC) made it evident that obtaining consent in a pre-printed consent form is an unfair trade practice.
