Medical Devices To Be Treated As Drugs From The Next Financial Year

Mumbai, 12 Feb 2020: Come April 1, all medical devices sold in the country would be treated as drugs and would be regulated under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act of 1940, the ministry of health and family welfare said in a notification on Tuesday.

Ban On Sale Of Cough And Cold Medicine After Raid In HP Chandigarh, 17 Feb 2020: The recovery of the Cold Best PC syrup being prepared at M / s Digital Vision drug company based in Kalaamb, Himachal, has been raided by the State Drug Controller team at two places. Along with this, 300 bottles of medicine have been seized during the raid. Counterfeit Medicines Are A Problem In The European Union—A Problem That Is Continuing To Grow

February 9, 2020 : 46 people were arrested in Cyprus, Finland, France, Hungary, Portugal, Spain, and the United Kingdom in October 2019 for being members of six different organized crime gangs that sold counterfeit prescription medicines, according to a recent Europol press release. Finnish and French authorities spearheaded the police action, with eleven other European Union (EU) member states participating. The seized counterfeit drugs included antihistamines, anxiolytics, ED medicines, hormone and metabolic regulators, narcotics, painkillers, antiestrogens, antivirals, and hypnotics.

Security Breach Illustrates Another Danger Of Fake Online Pharmacies

January 30, 2020 : Planet Drugs Direct, an online pharmacy based in Winnipeg, Canada, has announced a data breach. Hackers broke into their servers, exposing customers’ names, medical details, and contact and banking information, reports Bleeping Computer. The report came in the form of an email sent to some of Planet Drugs Direct’s customers. According to the email, which Bleeping Computer shared, customers have been advised to monitor their bank accounts for any “unusual activity.”Read More
