Time to ban pseudo ads – On World No Tobacco Day 2022 experts have this request and a warning for govt
New Delhi, May 31, 2022: In India, tobacco is known to be a major cause of various chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, lung and oral cancer, etc. According to a report released by the Indian Council of Medical Research, as much as a third of the cancer cases reported in India are linked to tobacco use. Moreover, the number of people diagnosed with cancer is expected to increase to almost 30 million by 2025.
IPC set to release Indian Pharmacopoeia 2022 on July 1
Mumbai, May 31, 2022 : With an aim to boost the highest standards of drugs for use in humans and animals, the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) is all set to release Indian Pharmacopoeia 2022 on July 1, 2022. The IP 2022 will have 92 new monographs, 21 vitamins, minerals, amino acids, fatty acids and 27 active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).

Health ministry to add 16 drugs as OTC under Schedule K of Drugs Rules, 1945New Delhi, May 27, 2022: The Union health ministry will soon be adding various strengths or delivery forms of 16 drugs, including antipyretic drug paracetamol 500 mg, analgesic diclofenac in ointment format, among others, as over-the-counter (OTC) drugs under Schedule K of Drugs Rules, 1945.
USTR continues to place India on ‘Priority Watch List Mumbai, May 31, 2022: The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) has recently released its Special 301 Report, in which the US agency has continued to place India on the 'Priority Watch List' along with Russia, China, Indonesia, Argenti-na, Chile and Venezuela for lacking requisite IPR protection and enforcement.
Health ministry to relax conditions on liquid antiseptics under Schedule K for limited period of timeNew Delhi, May 27, 2022: The Union ministry of health and family welfare has issued a draft amendment to the rule by which liquid antiseptics for household use were brought under the Schedule K of Drugs Rules, 1945, to exempt it from certain condition till November 30, 2022.

Government may 'rationalise' drug trade margins in a bid to reduce costsMay 27, 2022: The government is geared up to apply the trade margin rationalisation (TMR) formula to drugs in order to bring down their prices. New Delhi, June 1, 2022: With its list of local suppliers of 209 medicines for public procurement agencies invoked unexpected patent litigations, the Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP) has informed the Delhi High Court that its effort was merely to collate the details of local manufacturers and it should not be treated as directions by the Government to produce these drugs by infringing patent laws.
