Welcome to yet another edition of our newsletter.

Our country has witnessed a significant decline in the infant mortality rate (IMR) compared to last year. In 2015, the infant mortality rate (IMR) was 37 deaths per 1000 births which has declined to 34 deaths per 1,000 live births in 2016. Thanks to the government’s initiative such as free maternal and newborn health services, strengthening delivery services, promotions of breastfeeding and immunization promotion programmes which help to get such a reduction in infant mortality rate (IMR). India Witnessed a Significant Decline in Infant Mortality Rate

India has recorded a significant reduction in infant mortality rate compared to last year. Apart from this, deaths at birth have also decreased and there is also a decrease in gender ratio differences.
According to data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the infant mortality rate has decreased by 3 points, which is 8 percent of the total mortality rate, an improvement aided by various government’s initiatives, including strengthening healthcare services, free maternal and newborn health services, quality assurance and promoting awareness regarding the benefits of breastfeeding and immunization. In 2015, the infant mortality rate (IMR) was 37 deaths per 1000 births which has declined to 34 deaths per 1,000 live births in 2016.

Health ministry issues draft rules to facilitate sales of drugs onlineMumbai, October, 2017: The Union ministry of health and family welfare has issued draft of the Drugs (Sale and Distribution) Rules, 2017 aiming at removing ambiguity on regulations to facilitate sales of drugs online. The ministry issued the draft rules in exercise of the powers conferred by section 12 and section 33 of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 (23 of 1940) in supersession of Part VI, Schedule N, Form 19, Form 19A, Form 20, Form 20A, Form 20 B, Form 21, Form 21A, Form 21B, Form 20F, Form 20G and Form 26C contained in the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 1945. Two People Running Drug Factory Near Okha Arrested Rajkot, Oct 2017: Police lodged an offence in the drug haul made from a house in Arambhada village near Okha town and arrested two persons. The drug factory operating from the house was unearthed on September 29 and police had seized huge quantity of mephedrone from the spot. Police have arrested the house owner Haroon Sattar Sora and Jamnagar resident Pinal Chotai. The seized material is suspected to be worth nearly Rs 11 lakh. Read More

Five CanadaDrugs.Com Defendants Have Extradition Hearing Dates Set For May 2018

October 2017: According to CBCNews Manitoba, an extradition hearing date is set for five Winnipeg men accused of illegally importing and selling $78 million worth of misbranded and counterfeit drugs to American doctors from 2009 to 2012. Kristjan Thorkelson, Thomas Haughton, Ronald Sigurdson, Darren Chalus and Troy Nakamura will appear in the Manitoba Court of Queen’s Bench during the week of May 7, 2018 to face an extradition request the U.S Department of Justice for their roles in the CanadaDrugs.com case. The sixth defendant, James Trueman, is expected to have his hearing date set in Vancouver soon. October 2017: According to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), three Florida residents have been charged with conspiracy to import, manufacture, and distribute fake prescription drugs and anabolic steroids.
