Pharma export registers decline of 3.13% in February
New Delhi, March 12, 2022: Exports of pharmaceuticals from the country registered a decline of 3.13 per cent during February, 2022, to $1.94 billion as compared to $2 billion in the same month of last year. The 11 month period from April 2021 has reported a marginal growth of 0.16 per cent, as compared to the same period of previous fiscal year.

ViiV Healthcare’s readiness for voluntary licensing for cabotegravir augurs well for Indian HIV patients Mumbai, March 14, 2022: Succumbing to pressure from Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), the US-based pharmaceutical company ViiV Healthcare has withdrawn its decision of rolling back voluntary licensing deal for long-acting injectable cabotegravir (CAB-LA) which is used to prevent HIV infection. This will pave the way for development of low-cost generic formulations in low-and middle-income countries (LMICs) including India.

KPRDO asks KSPC to increase its funds from Rs. 2 lakh to Rs. 5 lakh for families of deceased pharmacists Bengaluru, March 17, 2022: The Karnataka Pharma Retailers & Distributors Organization (KPRDO) has proposed to the Karnataka State Phar-macy Council (KSPC)’s Registered Pharmacists Welfare Trust to increase its funding from the current Rs. 2 lakh to Rs. 5 lakh for the families of deceased pharmacists. The initiative is part of the Trust’s community programme extending a small financial support to the deceased pharmacists family.

DoP releases approach paper to National Medical Device Policy to make India “Diagnostic Capital of the World”
New Delhi, March 14, 2022: The Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP) has released an approach paper to the National Medical Device Policy, a draft for stakeholder discussion, to position the country as the true “Diagnostic Capital of the World”. The Policy, which envisages various developments including setting up of NIPER-like institutions for the medical devices sector, is expected to be valid for a period of 10 years following which it will be revised.
DoP combines existing schemes to announces new scheme ‘Strengthening of Pharmaceutical Industry’
New Delhi, March 14, 2022: The Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP) has combined the existing schemes for the development of pharmaceutical industries into a single scheme of Strengthening of Pharmaceutical Industry (SPI) with modification in the scheme guidelines, to strengthen the existing infrastructure facilities with a total financial outlay of Rs. 500 crore.
