In India, nearly 23 percent of heart failure patients die within a year of diagnosis, a study by International Congestive Heart Failure (INTER-CHF) claims. According to this study, India stands just after Africa, where it accounts for 34 percent. Higher out of pocket expenditure, lack of improved and adequate healthcare infrastructure and lack of awareness of the disease are some of the major contributors to the heart-related diseases. DOSE OF THE DAY

“Each year viral hepatitis infects millions of people across the region, causing the death of around 410,000 persons— more than HIV and malaria combined. It is also a major cause of liver cancer and cirrhosis, contributing to premature morbidity and mortality, and undermining economic growth and the push to achieve health and wellbeing for all. Enhanced awareness and understanding of how to prevent, treat and manage the disease is vital.”
