CSIR To Conduct Genome Sequencing Of 500 Covid-19 Samples To Get ‘Better Sense Of Virus’New Delhi, 10 April 2020: The Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) has started genome sequencing of 500 virus samples from Covid-19 positive patients in India to study routes of the virus, trace its mutations and help sharpen research and development on potential treatments.
Prolonged Covid-19 Will Disrupt Pharmaceutical Supplies For India, China: UN New Delhi, 9 April 2020: If the covid-19 pandemic is prolonged, pharmaceutical supplies are anticipated to be disrupted, as India contributes to 20% of world's drug supply by volume and China a source of 70% of the raw material for these drugs, said a new report by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) released on Wednesday.

Bio Protective Wear Specifications In The Works StillNEW DELHI, 7 APRIL 2020: India’s national standards body has started working on specifications for “bio protective coveralls” to be used by healthcare workers to combat the Covid-19 virus outbreak. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) held an “urgent meeting” on April 3 to address the issue, according to a document that ET has seen. The move comes as health care professionals are facing a shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Commerce Ministry Creates Online Platform For Issuance Of 'Certificate Of Origin' For Exporters New Delhi, 7 April 2020: The commerce ministry has designed an online platform for issuance of a key document required for exports to those countries with which India has trade agreements, with a view to facilitate shipments during the COVID-19 crisis. An exporter has to submit a 'certificate of origin' at the landing port of the importing country. The document is important to claim duty concessions under free-trade agreements (FTAs). This certificate is essential to prove where their goods come from.
Govt To Allow Industrial Manufacturers To Produce Oxygen For Medical Use New Delhi, 7 Apr 2020 (PTI) : The Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) has decided to grant licence to manufacturers of industrial oxygen to produce oxygen for medical use in public interest in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

N-95 Masks, Hand Sanitisers Worth Rs 27.63 Lakh Seized From Godown In Mumbai's Goregaon; Two ArrestedMumbai, 7 April 2020: Crime branch officials on Tuesday seized the stock of N-95 masks, which are in high demand, and hand sanitisers collectively worth Rs 27.63 lakh from a godown in suburban Goregaon in Mumbai and arrested two persons, police said.
Telangana DCA Nod To Six New Units To Make HydroxychloroquineHYDERABAD, 7 APRIL 2020: The Telangana Drugs Control Association (DCA) has issued licences to six new pharma units to manufacture Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) on war footing. According to the DCA, 17 units are already making the formulation besides the six that were issued licences on Monday. Only one company is producing the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) of the product in Telangana.
Rajasthan Govt Releases 25% Hydroxychloroquine Stock Jaipur, 8 April 2020: Taking into account the shortage of hydroxychloroquine, a drug showing effective results in treatment of Covid-19, the state government on Tuesday issued order to make the medicine available in the market for patients suffering from rheumatoid arthritis. The order says that 25% of the stock recovered from the dealers will be returned to them. But, the health department also mentioned that it should be given to patients on prescription adding that those found involved in black-marketing will be dealt strictly..
55 Firms Producing Up To 70,000 Litres Of Sanitiser Per Day In UP Lucknow, 6 April 2020: Facing an increased demand for sanitisers in the state, the Uttar Pradesh government has issued licences to 55 companies to produce up to 70,000 litres of the liquid per day. "Total number of sanitiser licenses issued in the state is 55. This includes 22 sugar mills, as many sanitiser companies, nine distilleries and two other companies," an official statement issued here on Monday said.

New Delhi, 1 April 2020: All medical devices shall be regulated by the government as drugs for quality control and price monitoring from April 1, 2020, the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers said in a statement on Tuesday. The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) in its a notification on Tuesday stated that all medical devices shall be governed under the provisions of the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013, with effect from Wednesday, it added.
