Mumbai: In what can turn out to be a Pandora's Box of illegal trade of importing of bulk drugs from China, a Ludhiana-based pharma trader has imported huge quantities of theophylline from an unregistered source in China. Theophylline is used for making anti-asthma drugs.

Guj FDCA adds a complaint web page for consumers in its website

Mumbai,: The Gujarat Food and Drug Control Administration (FDCA) recently launched a separate web page called gujhealth.gov.in/fdca in its website. It is specifically dedicated to address complaints from the general public and consumers on any problems or issue they face with regard to food and drugs in the state of Gujarat.

CBP officers at CVG seizes record number of illegal substances

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection at the Cincinnati DHL express consignment facility at the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport is having a record-breaking year in seizing shipments with illegal substances.

DCGI asks DDCs to monitor, review functioning of port offices twice a month

Mumbai, In yet another proactive measure to expedite the procedures for clearance of imported and exported pharma materials at different ports of the country, the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) Dr Surinder Singh has directed all the deputy drugs controllers heading their respective zones to visit the port offices at least twice in a month to monitor and review the activities and functioning of the port offices.

Commerce Ministry rules out further extension of barcoding for pharma exports

New Delhi Even as the industry to a large extent remained apprehensive about the possible burden involved, the Union Commerce Ministry has indicated that it will not further push the deadline or have a rethink about the implementation of barcoding for pharmaceutical exports, at least for the time now.

Whistleblowers on movement of spurious drugs to be rewarded

New Delhi, A scheme with suitable rewards for whistle blowers has been announced to detect the movement of spurious drugs in the country through increased public participation, the government on Tuesday said.

Rs.30,000 cr project to make available drugs free in govt hospitals during 12th Plan

New Delhi, : The Union health ministry is preparing an ambitious project involving Rs.30, 000 crore for a five year period to procure medicines for the public hospitals through a centralised procurement agency so as to make sure that all required drugs are available at the government hospitals.
