Fake Medicines and Cosmetics seized:

ABU DHABI:

In a crack down on cosmetic-selling outlets, the Public Health Division of the Abu Dhabi municipality has seized two tons of cosmetics and herbal medicines. These products were found to be fake or did not comply with health specifications. In some instances, the product labeling either did not have the requisite information or the language on the labels was neither Arabic or English. Moreover, many of the outlets were not licensed to deal with cosmetics or beauty products. Khalifa Mohammed Al Rumaithi, Director, Public Health Division, Abu Dhabi municipality, said that the Division will continue to track dubious products and have them lab tested. If the lab tests show the products to be hazardous, they will be confiscated, he said. Al Rumaithi called on distributors to register their products prior to sale. He called on the public to check the expiry date on the product labels, and to verify that the packages were properly sealed and not spoiled in storage. He cautioned the public about the toxic and carcinogenic effects of fake medicines.
