9 arrested with Rs.10-crore drugs
LUDHIANA, Oct 2013: In one of the biggest recoveries from the city, police recovered synthetic drugs worth more than Rs 10 crore and arrested nine people. The contraband was recovered from a pharmaceutical factory in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh. Police also recovered synthetic drugs worth more than Rs 7 crore from Ludhiana on September 19. These were owned by the same accused.

FDA officials book 4 quacks for misleading ads, selling drugs without license
MUMBAI, Oct 2013: With the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) massive crackdown on doctors selling medicines illegally over the past few months, four bogus medicos have recently been booked at Ratnagiri under the relevant sections of Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, Drugs & Magic Remedies Act 1954 and Maharashtra Medical Practitioner Act, 1961 for exhibiting objectionable advertisement regarding treatment of impotence along with selling and stocking of drugs without a license.

Enhancing collaboration focus of INTERPOL training on pharmaceutical crime

GHAZIABAD, Oct 2013: Encouraging greater international cooperation in the fight against pharmaceutical crime was the focus of INTERPOL’s first training course on this type of crime held in India. The three-day event (8-10 October), organized by INTERPOL’s Medical Product Counterfeiting and Pharmaceutical Crime (MPCPC) Sub-directorate and the Indian Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), brought together some 35 participants from police and drug control agencies across India to increase collaboration and enhance the abilities of the region to more effectively combat all forms of pharmaceutical crime including fake and illicit medicines.
