The established way to obtain medicines is from a pharmacist Increasingly, however, purchases are being made the world over on the internet. India too has been gripped into this online racket. Maharashtra FDA has raided several such online pharmacies selling medicines with fake prescriptions. We disclose more on this under the national injections section of our newsletter, in this issue. PSM India initiative strongly urges their readers and the consumers of India to always consult your doctor , rather than purchase medicines direct from an internet supplier without a prescription.  Banned drugs seized from Rohtak's drug store
CHANDIGARH, April 2014: Officials from Haryana's Food and Drug Administration (FDA) seized 360 bottles of corex, 3,400 tablets of Nitrozipam and 336 injections of Fortwin during the raids conducted on Shri Ram Medical Hall, DLS Chowk, Rohtak.
 One person arrested for peddling illegal narcotic drug
HYDERABAD, April 2014: Police arrested one person in Tolichowki area for allegedly procuring 'khat' leaves which are essentially a flowering shrub which has a stimulating narcotic effect, similar to that of cocaine, official sources said.
Maharashtra FDA busts online trade of Viagra
PUNE, April 2014: The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) has seized Rs 2 crore worth of sildenafil citrate, popularly known as Viagra, from 27 online firms located in Mumbai, Thane and Pune for selling it illegally to African and European countries.

Wednesday, April 23, 2014, 08:00 Hrs : Urging the government of Uttar Pradesh to take a cue from the neighbouring state of Uttarakhand while posting and allotting duties to pharmacists in the health sub centres (PHCs) in rural areas, the UP branch of the Indian hospital pharmacists association (IHPA) has demanded the government of UP to appoint pharmacists in all the primary health centres in the state as what has been done in Uttarakhand.

This alliance shall strive towards protecting the consumers from fake and substandard consumption of medicines and creating awareness towards the same.
