"Even if one person dies of spurious medicines it is a serious issue." (Spoken at a PSM INDIA event on 3rd October 2011)
Dr.APJ ABDUL KALAM
Former President of India
We lost a true leader Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. The Nation mourns on HIS passing away and the void can never get filled by any other person. He once said "even if one person dies because of spurious medicine it is a serious issue". It was 3rd October 2011 in one of our event in New Delhi he mentioned about the unethical practices adopted by certain medical practitioners by prescribing irrational diagnostic tests, he called it the DIAGNOSTIC PAIN for patients. We shall MISS HIM and PRAY TO GOD for HIS SOUL TO REST IN PEACE. Nation has lost a great SON. OUR DEEP CONDOLENCE from PSM India Initiative.

Frequently Asked Questions Q1. What is nanotechnology and its application in the field of medicine?
Answer: Nanotechnology ("nanotech") is the manipulation of matter on an atomic, molecular, and supramolecular scale. It is an emerging technology that has influenced a large number of industrial segments like medicine , medical devices, electronics, biomaterials, coating, chemicals, energy production, food , agriculture, cosmetics and varied consumer products.
Nanomedicine is the medical application of nanotechnology. Nanomedicine ranges from the medical applications of nanomaterials and biological devices, to electronic biosensors, biological machines etc.

Q2. Possible side effects of Nanomedicine and its technology
Answer: The size and shape of nanoparticles affect their bioactivity and toxicity. Substances become more reactive as their particles get smaller because the surface area is greater relative to the volume, providing a larger surface on which chemical reactions can occur. Their ability to interact with living systems increases because they can often penetrate the skin, enter the bloodstream via the lungs, and cross the blood/brain barrier. Once inside the body, there may be further biochemical reactions, such as the creation of free radicals that damage cells and DNA. Also, while the body has built-in defences for natural particles it encounters, nanotechnology is introducing entirely new substances that the body cannot recognize or be able to deal with.
Therefore, though there is no doubt that nanoparticles have interesting and useful properties and may bring great benefits, but their possible adverse effects cannot be ignored and research on the matter is ongoing.
