New drugs may soon be considered 'new' for 10 years instead of 4 New Delhi, Nov 2016: A committee of secretaries has proposed that in the interest of better and more effective regulation, the period for which a new drug is considered "new" should be extended to 10 years instead of the current four. Teva receives US FDA approval for generic Tribenzor Jerusalem, November, 2016: Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. announced approval of generic Tribenzor (olmesartan medoxomil, amlodipine and hydrochlorothiazide) tablets in the US and is in the final stages of launch preparation. Counterfeit drugs: 884 medical stores raided in Punjab BAHAWALPUR, NOV 2016: The drug control authority raided 884 medical stores across Punjab during October and sealed 68 of them for selling counterfeit drugs. In addition, the drug control authority officials collected samples of 87 medicines and arrested 13 shop owners over irregularities. Besides, 69 cases were registered against quacks and more than Rs2.6 million fines were imposed. Read More
