Bangalore couple, two Nigerians arrested for selling fake drugs
BANGALORE: An Indian couple and two Nigerian nationals have been arrested for selling a senior citizen fake drugs for nearly Rs. 12 lakh claiming it could cure cancer. The four approached the senior citizen through e-mail and lured him into believing that he can earn big money by selling the "drug" which was "pieces of wood mixed with hair-dye".

BSF seizes phensedyl worth Rs 39.76 lakh in Tripura
AGARTALA (PTI): A large consignment of cough syrup phensedyl, which was to be smuggled into neighbouring Bangladesh, has been seized by BSF in Tripura's Panisagar district. The truck carrying the consignment of syrup bottles and some other items were intercepted by a BSF check squad, a senior official of the paramilitary force said.

MUMBAI : The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) has issued a comprehensive list of Fixed Dose Combination (FDC) drugs approved by drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) since 1961 till February, 2013. The list includes a total of 1125 FDCs covering all therapeutical categories.

DCC Sub-panel for amendments to D&C Rules to focus on 4 segments

BENGALURU : Drugs Consultative Committee (DCC) sub-committee for Amendments to the Drugs & Cosmetic (D&C) Rules constituted by DCGI and headed by the Karnataka Drugs Controller, Dr.BR Jagashetty has taken a decision to focus on four broad segments covering manufacturing, sales, enforcement and drug test labs while revising the Rules. The Sub- committee met at Bengaluru for a two-day session to deliberate on the amendments and the next meeting will be held either in March end or first week of April at Chennai.

Australia meth drug seizure worth £291m leads to 3 arrests

SYDNEY : Police in Australia have made a record drug seizure as the drug methamphetamine, concealed in a shipment from southern China, was captured. The Australia meth seizure has led to the arrest of a Singaporean male, an Australian man and a Hong Kong male, with each listed to appear in court on Thursday in Sydney. The Australia drug seizure consisted of drugs weighing a total of 1290 pounds (585 kg) and possessed an estimated street worth of £291m.
