Editor's Emulsion

As we celebrated WORLD HEALTH Day on 7th April, World Health Organisation (WHO) called for a renewed focus on vector control and better provision of safe water, sanitation and hygiene .
PSM India Iniitiative too with other leading consumer organisations of India gathered to focus on the urgent need for preventing vector-borne diseases in India and the need for improving access to quality healthcare, which is a constitutional right of every Indian Citizen. We lost our legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra to Dengue last year while it was because of Dengue again that noted actor Ranveer Singh suffered a severe infection . A detailed report of our highly successful event in Mumbai on 7th April which focussed on these vector borne diseases is put forth to our readers under PSM PILL.
We are victims of disease because of lack of awareness about hygiene, good pharmacy practices and access to quality healthcare.
The Model Prescription format for the state of Maharashtra was formally issued by Hon’ble Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan. This format includes doctor’s full name , qualification, registration number , patient’s details , name of the generic or its equivalent along with the dosage instructions, doctor’s signature, stamp and “supplied” stamp by the pharmacist . This is exactly the need of the hour and we hope the entire country comes under this format . As an aware consumer and a nobel pharmacist we must look out for all these indications in our prescription as well.
