Health department raids diagnostic centre for duping patients

JAIPUR, AUG 2015: 
The Health Department officials raided a diagnostic centre at Bani Park area on Saturday, which was allegedly conducting diagnostic tests for allergies. But, during inspection, the health department officials claimed that they were not conducting the diagnostic test to ascertain allergies.
National Health Mission (NHM) Additional Mission Director,  Neeraj K Pawan said that they have directed the owner of the diagnostic centre to return the amount of fees he had collected during the two-day camp, he had organized and conducted the test for ascertain allergy, which was actually not a test for the purpose.
He took Rs 2,400 from a patient to conduct the test. The health department officials closed the camps and served notices to the organizer of the camp.
"He was misguiding the patients by conducting the test, which is not a test for ascertaining allergies. He was conducting a test to find out allergy sensitivity in blood. But, to find out allergy, there is a test known as skin prick test, which is the common test for allergy," Chief Medical Health Officer Jaipur (I) , Dr Narottam Sharma said.
He said they raided the diagnostic centre and lodged complaint at Bani Park Police Station. The Health Department levelled charges of making money by conducting inappropriate test and duping money from the patients.
Moreover, during raids, the health officials found that the diagnostic centre officials did not follow the bio medical disposal norms. "The used injections were lying on the floor, when we inspected the diagnostic centres," Dr Sharma said.
The health department served notice to the doctor, who was operating the diagnostic centre, asking him if he is authorized to conduct the diagnostic test by the Health Department and the Governing agencies.
